SAFETY CABLES
Many commercial users and original equipment manufacturers utilize Cablecraft’s extensive line of bare cable and PlastiCable for their safety or restraint applications. These cables (sometimes referred to as lanyards) ranging in size from 1/32″ (0.8mm) to 3/8″ (9.5mm) in diameter, are combined with a large variety of standard components to meet specific requirements for high-quality mechanical cable assemblies.
Our finished assemblies are manufactured in modern facilities by skilled personnel using state-of-the-art fabrication and assembly processes, producing reliable products at a competitive cost.
Cablecraft has a broad scope of experience and a proven track record in producing quality assemblies. Our engineering design team will collaborate with you to design a dependable mechanical cable solution to meet or exceed your requirements.
Tooling and equipment, designed and manufactured by Cablecraft, precisely and accurately cuts cable, as well as diecast or swages fittings for dependable and maximum assembly strength. We can even coil the cable for taking up slack when the cable is not engaged.
Cablecraft’s quality control procedures ensure dimensional accuracy, consistency and reliability. Our assembly technicians and quality assurance personnel are fully trained in using sophisticated Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures to ensure the highest quality possible. Standard SPC capability studies are routinely performed to establish dimensional and holding strength standards for critical cable assembly specifications.
When safety is paramount, many of the world's largest OEM's trust Cablecraft to design and manufacture a dependable safety/restraint cable to meet their critical needs. Our experienced and knowledgeable design engineers work with your team to ensure the success of your project including the design of test fixtures to prove out product performance. The Cablecraft standard line of cable fittings is available in many configurations, materials and finishes. Each series of fittings has been designed for use with specific cable diameters to offer the maximum holding strength possible. All stamped, forged or screw machine fittings are swaged or pressed onto the cable using matched metal dies in mechanical or hydraulic presses. Most cylindrical, spherical, and MS (military standard) fittings are applied to the cable using specialized rotary swaging and hydro-forming equipment.
Cablecraft maintains a large inventory of specially designed and manufactured tooling and dies fabricated in our own tool room to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency for all swaged and pressed fittings. The selection of standard in-stock catalog fittings is the most cost-effective approach for most applications.
Cablecraft’s experience in the design, prototyping, testing and production of specialized and custom cable fittings has created an extensive list of unique fittings. Custom fittings for special assembly requirements can be designed by our Engineering department and prototyped by our fully equipped machine shop and tool room.
Prototypes are available and are an invaluable way to finalize the dimensional and tolerance requirements of any assembly. Life cycle and durability testing can also be conducted on prototypes, prior to production. Contact us to request a prototype.
You can get started by using our design considerations or you can download our Safety and Restraint Design Guide to help analyze, define, design and specify the most appropriate general application assembly for your specific need. The Design Guide contains useful information and technical data necessary to develop a functional and effective Safety/Restraint cable assembly.
